Edison Awards Nomination
We are proud to be a 2018 nominee for the Edison Awards in the category for Consumer Electronics & Information Technology! So, we thought we would share with you how EverSleep exemplifies key aspects of innovation, but first a little bit about the Awards.
"The Awards are named after Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) whose extraordinary new product and market development methods garnered him 1,093 U.S. patents and made him a household name across the world. The Edison Awards™ symbolize the persistence and excellence personified by Thomas Edison and his Menlo Park team, while also strengthening the human drive for innovation, creativity, and ingenuity." The number of monitors and remedies is growing every year, but so far only EverSleep can monitor, analyze, differentiate, and suggest specific remedies. EverSleep was created by a group of experienced engineers, entrepreneurs, and sleep clinicians. Together they have brought over 50 products to market and hold 25+ medical device patents. EverSleep makes understanding advanced sleep data easier than ever.
100 million Americans wake up tired at least once per week, 90 million snore, and an estimated 18 million have undiagnosed sleep apnea. EverSleep is the ground-breaking device that differentiates airway based sleep problems using our miniaturized pulse oximetry technology, and then analyzes those readings in our sleep analysis engine to generate customized sleep coaching in our mobile app. The founders of EverSleep came together with a common goal… Bring hospital-grade advanced sleep monitoring directly to the consumer.
The founders realized that “fitness bracelet” sleep monitoring or free “snore” apps don’t tell the user why they are sleeping badly, leaving consumers to choose between an ineffective $99 bracelet or an uncomfortable $1200 in-hospital sleep study. With clinical grade oxygen monitoring, pulse rate monitoring, snoring measurement, and extremely sensitive motion detection, EverSleep can identify and differentiate between many types of sleep problems. It’s a simple, comfortable, inexpensive consumer home health device that delivers much of the benefit of a true sleep lab.
EverSleep partnered with Arrow Electronics and Protolabs to create a device that is made from the highest quality materials and engineering that is backed with Arrow Certified technology. The simple, innovative design uses advanced sensors to measure, analyze, and identify causes for snoring, three types of insomnia, breathing disruptions, pulse rate variations, and short sleeping. These problems all increase “fragmented” sleep and reduce quality sleep. EverSleep’s unique Smart Coaching analyzes over 5000 different measurement combinations that result in over 150 easy-to-understand coaching points and recommended products.
EverSleep is at the intersection of several incoming social forces: Internet of Things, the self-quantization movement, an epidemic of sleep health problems, electronics miniaturization, increasing computational power of mobile devices, increased insurance deductibles, and a dramatic shift in US healthcare policy forcing people to “own” their health and fitness in concert with their physicians. EverSleep has the potential to bring better sleep to millions of people - fulfilling our mission of improving lives by improving sleep.
